St Joe has some pretty exciting things planned for both Panama City Beach and the surrounding areas!  They have played a large role in helping Bay County recover in the aftermath of Hurricane Michael last October.  St Joe is known as the the largest private landowner and a major developer in Bay County.  They are currently building a hotel at the Panama City Marina and have plans to develop a 200-acre retail and residential village in Mexico Beach.

These are some of the projects planned closer to home for us here in Panama City Beach:

We've seen a lot of buzz (no pun intended) about the proposed Busy Bee Fuel Station, which will include a large 13,000 convenience store,14 pumps, and a carwash, the largest in the region.  This will be built at the corner of Nautilus Street and Panama City Beach Parkway.

There has certainly been a shortage of home and apartment rentals in the area, especially since the hurricane. Pier Park North will be the third apartment complex to break ground along Hwy 98 since September.  Mayor Mike Thomas expressed that this is another way of Panama City Beach reaching out to help local families. 

St. Joe hasn't forgotten about our visitors that flock to this area! They have two hotels planned for the beach and one planned close to the NW Florida airport, which will include a restaurant and meeting rooms. This is a much needed hotel, perfect for business people traveling to and from the area! It will be adjacent to the airport which is located within St. Joe’s 110,500 acres known as the Bay-Walton Sector Plan. Currently under construction is TownePlace Suites, adjacent to Frank Brown Park. This will be a 124 room select service hotel.  The other is 250 room Embassy Suites full service hotel, which will offer gulf views.  

St Joe has partnered with WaterCrest Senior Living Group to construct and own a new assisted living and memory care community in Santa Rosa Beach just a few miles to the west of us. This will consist of 107 units, which includes 75 units dedicated to assisted living and 32 units for memory care.  Watercrest communities are known for featuring premium accommodations and exceptional amenities, as well as world class care. Residents enjoy access to a wide array of resort-style amenities, which may include fine dining, pool, spa, wellness programming with aquatic therapy, and health education.

The project that I'm most excited about is Latitude Margaritaville Watersound, a 55+ Residential Community near Panama City Beach and the scenic 30A corridor. St Joe owns approximately 15 miles of frontage on the Intracoastal Waterway connecting West Bay with Choctawhatchee Bay, which is where this community is planned.  Approximately 3000 homes are planned for the first phase.  It is projected to open in early 2020. This will be the third Latitude Margaritaville Adult Community, the others are in Daytona Beach, Florida and Hilton Head, SC.

Another project planned for Walton County is Origins Crossings, which will include 217 luxury apartments located in the Watersound Origins community.  This will be under construction before summer. 

Last but not least is the Watersound Origins Sacred Heart Health Facility (Walton County) which will begin as a 6,700 sq ft multi specialty ambulatory clinic offering Primary and OB-GYN services with potential future expansion to 13,000 sq ft offering specialty care services.  St Joe is the developer, Sacred Heart will occupy the facility. The anticipated opening date will be in 2020.
